How ironic would it be if the dumbest President this country has ever had allowed himself to be bribed with fireworks? I mean, we know he’s easily amused, but after he found out that the military was trying its hardest to actually keep the tracks of the Abrams tanks off the streets of DC and to try and mitigate the damage all of the equipment Trump insisted on will do to the grounds around our national monuments, I’ll bet he wanted to make up for the destruction by squeezing in a few extra explosions.
Small wonder, then, that he would tweet specifically about the upcoming light show:
Thanks to “Phantom Fireworks” and “Fireworks by Grucci” for their generosity in donating the biggest fireworks show Washington D.C. has ever seen. CEO’s Bruce Zoldan and Phil Grucci are helping to make this the greatest 4th of July celebration in our Nations history!

But why would a company donate what has to be a HUGE show when they know that taxpayers are already footing the bill for an obscenely over-the-top spectacle to begin with — they could certainly cash in on an amazing payday.
Oh. That could explain it.
So when pollster Matthew McDermott tweeted that Trump had possibly — probably — broken the law regarding this fireworks show…
(1) Fireworks CEO meets with Trump in Oval Office to oppose tariffs. (2) CEO announces ‘donation’ to Trump’s 4th of July event. (3) *That same day* Trump announces delay to very same tariffs. https://t.co/UDUSOm7mCB

…Congressman Ted Lieu sat up and took notice.
Add it to the litany of other crimes Trump has committed, I guess? Whatever Congress decides to do about it, Rep. Lieu thought maybe it might not reach the critical level it ought to — so he went ahead and CC’ed the FBI on a tweet of his own:

Maybe we can finally get something done about this criminal.
