As the President’s daily dose of crazy gathered steam on Thursday morning, it became increasingly apparent that he wasn’t just rambling — as usual, there must be some method to his madness, some ulterior motive he has in spouting the exact crazy statements he says at the exact moment he says them.

In fact, the majority of those of us who choose to — or are basically required to by our jobs — follow him on social media giant Twitter have almost developed a system of deciphering red flags, indicators that when he mentions topic X, he’s worried it will come to the forefront again soon, or when he lies about topic Y, he’s trying to sway public opinion just before making some big announcement.

It’s that series of codes and mental warning lights that goes off when Trump is “subtweeting” himself — clearly referring to something he’s talked about a million times, but for no apparent reason right at this moment.

Congress is now investigating the institution.

But therein lies the alarm for those who watch his social media: Why now? House Democrats issued subpoenas for Deutsche Bank all the way back in April and have made no serious announcements regarding findings or conclusions so far since then. Yet here we are, watching Trump bumble his way through what’s obviously a defense for something unspoken:

The likeliest cause of his tweets is that some Republican who sits in the minority on the Financial Services Committee leaked something to Trump regarding Congress’ inquiry and some late-breaking news that came out of it. It certainly seems like he knows something well in advance and it trying to get out in front of it now.

And we weren’t the only ones that thought so
